Session Description:
NASA's Van Allen Probes, launched in August 2012, continue to provide abundant particle, wave, and field data from Earth's inner magnetosphere. Data from the Van Allen Probes and other missions such as THEMIS, Cluster and BARREL are shedding light on the interactions between the main plasma components of the inner magnetosphere, namely the radiation belts, ring current, plasmasphere, and ionosphere. This session invites recent contributions from all facets of inner magnetosphere research, with a particular emphasis on modeling and theory results, and the comparison of observations with theory. Topics of interest include, but are not restricted to particle energization and loss mechanisms, properties and importance of ULF, EMIC, ELF, and VLF waves, wave-particle interactions, and global modeling.
