Surface Expressions of Volcanism and Associated Tectonism on Venus and Implications for Interior Dynamics Posters

Session Description:
This session explores the range of surface volcanic expressions that provide essential clues to interior mantle and crustal dynamics on Venus. Relevant topics include (but are not limited to): 1) (giant) radiating graben-fissure systems focussed on magmatic (e.g., plume or diapir-related) centres marked by a volcano, corona, or alternatively focussed on a cryptic (e.g., unobserved) magmatic centre; 2) canali and other types of lava channels that represent features either constructed within a broad flow of fluid lava or eroded into the substrate; 3) properties and distribution of features (e.g. shield fields, tesserae) that could be used to address hypotheses regarding the presence of hot spot trails or that might reflect changing lithospheric thickness as a function of both location and time; and 4) other aspects of surface volcanism and related tectonism that can be used to interpret the current and historic activity of the interior of Venus.
