Session Description:
Quantifying the amount of atmospheric deposition of various pollutants at local, regional and global scales in reasonable accuracy is critical in determining the pollutant species’ lifetimes in the atmosphere and their rates of movement into various ecosystems. Large uncertainties exist in dry and wet deposition estimation - both in field measurements and in theoretical studies, even for the most studied pollutants. To improve air-quality forecasts and to assess the pollutants potential impact on human and ecosystem health, a better knowledge of air-surface exchange and dry and wet deposition processes is needed. We welcome contributions on any topics related to atmospheric dry and wet deposition and air-surface exchange processes, especially those that address knowledge gaps; gaps such as new technology developments for field measurements, new numerical algorithm developments for general applications, studies on less-understood pollutants, and model and network intercomparisons at multiple scales.
