Nondestructive Study of Meteorites Posters

Session Description:
Each meteorite represents a research opportunity and therefore preservation is highly desirable. Non-destructive study of meteorites allow the acquisition of critical data without altering the material and/or to strategically plan which subset of the samples might be subsequently used in more invasive investigations. This session features a wide range of non-destructive analytical techniques including, but not limited to, high-resolution 3D laser imaging of meteorite surfaces; measurements of physical properties such as electrical and thermal conductivity, magnetic susceptibility and density, micro X-ray diffraction and tomography, and numerical modelling of these data. The session welcomes contributions on advances on the techniques themselves and associated challenges, and on new knowledge on meteorites derived from their application. It covers studies of meteorites at different scales, from detailed mineralogy at the micron-scale to hand samples.
