Laser Imaging in the Earth Sciences I

Session Description:
Laser imaging is providing an interesting new perspective for several applications in the earth sciences. This session will cover laser imaging at different scales from micron-scale (e.g. detailed imaging of the surface of geomaterials) to meter-scale (e.g. imaging road cuts and outcrops), panoramic-scale (e.g. imaging transportation corridors and mountain slopes) and planetary scale (e.g. remote sensing of the atmosphere). It will feature different sensors such as LiDARs, triangulation-based cameras, and bathymetric laser systems. Abstracts are invited on laser instrumentation and calibration, mapping, image analytics, and applications case histories.
