Implementing New Datums for North America Posters

Session Description:
Widespread use of geospatial data has produced a greater demand for access to coordinate determination with respect to both vertical and geodetic datums. Improvements in GNSS technology and tools have significantly improved timeliness and accuracy of positioning in a geodetic datum.  New data and processing techniques have also resulted in updated national geoids of increasing accuracy to serve as future vertical datums.

This session will focus on developing, implementing and accessing new datums - both geodetic and vertical. Topics include but are not limited to definition of reference frames to align with national spatial reference systems, permanent GNSS infrastructure required to maintain access, and tools for such access, analysis of various combinations of levelling and gravity data to serve as a vertical datum, impacts on groups relying upon datum definitions for their products, required legislative changes, and impacts on industry professionals (surveyors, GIS, etc.).
