Earth's Plasmasphere: Feeding, Dynamics, and Coupling Processes II Posters

Session Description:
Earth's inner magnetosphere is a dynamical system strongly controlled by interactions with the solar wind. In particular, plasmaspheric ion and electron populations continuously interact with the populations of the radiation belts, ring current, and ionosphere, through various processes such as electromagnetic fields, currents, density structures and wave-particle interactions. Datasets from recent missions such as ESA's SWARM and NASA's Van Allen Probes, as well as from Cluster's Inner Magnetosphere Campaign (July-October 2013), continue to help us understand these processes. This session is devoted to gaining a better understanding of the coupling of the plasmasphere with the ionosphere, ring current and radiation belts, in order to provide insight into how geomagnetic disturbances propagate through and modify the different populations present within. Multi-point observations and statistical surveys using different datasets (ground-based and in-situ) and modelling efforts are encouraged. Work in preparation for future inner magnetosphere missions (e.g., ORBITALS, ERG) is also welcome.
