2015 AGU Joint Assembly

Despite the integral role science plays today and in the future for our communities, many people are unaware of the importance of science to them. When scientists and science communicators share their work and its value with local groups: 1) science enters into the local dialogue; 2) researchers become visible, accessible community resources; and 3) scientists improve their own understanding of how to frame their work in the context of local issues. 

What are the best ways to make these connections with public audiences around the world and take advantage of the opportunities such connections provide? How can we overcome some of the challenges of making those connections and surmounting cultural barriers? We welcome presentations that address the ways scientists and others can successfully connect with local groups, build relationships and dialogue, and frame their work in a context that is compelling and meaningful.
