Water Resource Impacts From Past and Future Climate Change and Climate Variability

Session Description:
Climate change and climate variability have the potential to affect the intensity and dynamics of the hydrologic cycle, resulting in potential changes to the volume and seasonality of water fluxes and states.  The theme of this session is to identify the scope and magnitude of the influence of climate change/climate variability on water resources in North America.  This session seeks research contributions  that directly assess the implications of climate driven changes to the planning, allocation, management and operations of water resource systems and the functioning of aquatic ecosystems.  We encourage presentations on a wide range of climate impacts studies from throughout North America which assess the sensitivity of public safety, agriculture, water supply and linked ecology.  The session will consider both current examples and future projections on specific topics, such as instream (ecological) flow needs, aquatic resource management, hydrological connectivity, hydropower generation and energy, flood protection and reservoir management.
