Nutrient Cycling in Wetlands and Aquatic Ecosystems III Posters

Session Description:
Nitrogen (N) and phosphorous (P) are limiting nutrients, thus their availability drives ecosystem productivity and functioning. Due to the complexity of N and P cycling resulting from rapid transformations and recycling, little is known about the available forms of these two nutrients and their fate within ecosystems. While many freshwater aquatic ecosystems experience increased loading of both N and P due to anthropogenic inputs, some wetlands (i.e.  northern peatlands) are thought to be N and P-limited. This session therefore welcomes contributions that focus on biogeochemical cycling of N and P in freshwater aquatic ecosystems (lakes, rivers, and streams) and wetlands (freshwater marshes, peatlands and swamps). We encourage contributions that focus on all aspects of N and P cycling, including stoichiometry, inputs, transformations, fate and exports but also effects of N and P on ecosystem functioning.
