Recent Multipoint Observations and Interpretation of Relativistic Electron Dynamics in the Earth's Radiation Belts

Session Description:
The relativistic electron populations in the Earth’s Van Allen belts are very dynamic, being subject to various energization and loss processes. It is known that these processes couple phenomena over large spatial and energy scales, although full details of the processes are yet to be established. Currently, there are multiple spacecraft making detailed and high quality observations of the Earth’s radiation belts covering a wide range of energies, species and pitch angles. These include the Van Allen Probes, THEMIS, and geo-synchronous satellites. Future missions are also being planned, ranging from large to small satellites. This session invites abstracts addressing electron dynamics emphasizing multi-point and multi-scale observations and their interpretation. Abstracts addressing instrumentation and particle detection, calibration and analyses techniques are also welcome.
