Geophysical Investigations of "Stable" Eastern North America I

Session Description:
Geophysical data coverage of central and eastern North America has been vastly improved in recent years, thanks to ongoing large-scale projects such as EarthScope and POLARIS. The new data sets and models suggest that the “stable” core of the region is every bit as complex in structure and dynamics as the tectonically-active west of North America, recording more than 3 billion years’ worth of tectonic processes in the present-day lithospheric structure.

EarthScope’s USArray Transportable Array wraps up its studies of the lower 48 States and eastern Canada in summer 2015. This wealth of new geophysical data is permitting detailed studies of Earth structure in this previously under-represented part of the continent.

We welcome submissions related to structural/tectonic/geodynamic studies of “stable” North America, with particular emphasis on geophysical investigations of the crust and upper mantle.
