Session Description:
Ability to measure, model and predict groundwater recharge under various landuse and climatic condition is required for sustainable resource management. Groundwater discharge to rivers and surface ecosystems, and withdrawal are well documented; nevertheless recharge remains poorly characterized. Groundwater recharge is a transient and spatially variable process - properties that limit our capacities to quantify the water balance of aquifers with a sufficient accuracy and reliability.

This session aims at bringing together recent developments of the methods for quantifying recharge fluxes at various temporal and spatial scales, as well as case studies under different climatic and geological contexts. All contributions including, but not limited to monitoring methods, geochemical investigations, or numerical modelling are welcome.
