Advances in Wetland Ecohydrology Posters

Session Description:
Ecohydrology is concerned with the interactions and feedbacks within the plant-soil-water-atmosphere continuum. Wetlands have proven to exhibit tremendous ecohydrological regulation of key processes, including peat control of soil hydrology and water table fluctuation, feedbacks between vascular vegetation and evapotranspiration, hydraulic engineering by beaver, and stream water quality buffering. This session aims to highlight recent developments in ecohydrology research of peatlands, marshes, swamps, and riparian and estuarine ecosystems. Presentations focussing on empirical field monitoring, field and laboratory experimentation, remote sensing, modelling, and paleo-studies of plant-water interactions in wetland environments are welcome. The diversity and complexity of wetland ecohydrology requires treatment of relevant processes at the spatial scales from the microcosm to global and temporal scales of instantaneous to millennia. Increased understanding of plant-water dynamics in wetlands is required for preservation and improvement of the valuable services these key ecosystems provide to society, especially under increasing climate and land use change pressures.
