MD13A:
VMS Deposits and Their Geological Environment I
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session Title - en français: Les sulfures massifs volcanogènes et leur environnement géologique
Session ID#: 6929
Session Description:
Volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits represent important polymetallic sources of base and precious metals in Canada and around the world. Studies of their modern analogues, seafloor massive sulphide (SMS) deposits, help constrain their processes of formation and evolution. This session welcomes contributions on the genesis of VMS and SMS deposits, addressing topics such as their mineralogy, geochemistry, and mode of emplacement. We also welcome studies of their geological environment, from regional to deposit scale. This includes hydrothermal alteration and reconstruction of the volcanic or sedimentary environment, addressing topics such as volcanology, sedimentology, geochemistry, petrology, stratigraphy, physical properties, geophysics, or tectonic setting.
