Session Description:
In a context of land use and climate-driven changes where extreme events will likely occur more frequently in the future, river scientists are facing many challenges which can also be seen as opportunities to deepen our understanding of fluvial processes and to develop novel management approaches.  This session invites experimental, theoretical, numerical and field-based contributions on themes related to sediment transport, morphodynamics,  hydrogeomorphological management approaches, river system resilience,  biogeomorphology and river and floodplain habitat. This session is in collaboration with CGRG.

Session Description - en français: Dans un contexte de changements dans l’utilisation du sol et dans le climat où les événements extrêmes sont appelés à survenir plus souvent à l’avenir, les experts en science des cours d’eau font face à de nombreux défis qui peuvent aussi être vus comme des occasions pour approfondir nos connaissances des processus fluviaux et pour développer des approches de gestion novatrices. Cette session examinera les contributions expérimentales , théoriques, numériques ainsi que les travaux de terrain sur des thèmes liés au transport des sédiments, à la morphodynamique, à des pratiques de gestion basées sur l’hydrogéomorphologie, à la résilience des systèmes fluviaux, à la biogéomorphologie et aux habitats physiques des cours d’eau et de leur plaine alluviale. Cette session est en collaboration avec le GCRG.
