Abstract:
One of the goals of the Sea-ice Ocean Coupled Assimilation (SOCA) project of the Joint Center for Satellite Data Assimilation (JCSDA) is to develop a Joint Effort for Data assimilation Integration (JEDI) based system for the initialization of ocean models.

This presentation will focus on describing the JEDI encapsulation of the NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL) Modular Ocean Model version 6 (MOM6) and its current capabilities, including the B-matrix development, Unified Forward Operators (UFO) and some of the variational data assimilation applications available through the JEDI based system.
