Abstract:
The primary goal of this cloud-based tool is to scope out and build an initial easy-to-use online mapping application (currently in beta) that will access OER real-time and live services with the capability to generate, print, and share standardized map products. OER needs the ability for multiple individuals, spread across the U.S. and sometimes out at sea, to share in the making of maps. These maps need to be standardized for use in routine products and web stories, easily editable by a variety of users, and include the most-to-date OER data. The data and web services are all hosted on a cloud platform with sharing capability between users. We will describe our methodology, the GIS services developed and used for this application, and how these tools might help others generate standardized, routine maps for a variety of purposes.
