TH13B:
CLIVAR in WCRP: Present and Future of international collaboration in climate and ocean research.

Session ID#: 91854

Session Description:
The Town Hall wishes to bring together climate and ocean researchers and practitioners at all career levels who are interested in international coordination and cooperation within the broad umbrella of the Climate and Ocean - Variability, Predictability, and Change (CLIVAR) project.

It will serve to inform about opportunities within CLIVAR while also discussing the new science plan of the World Climate Research Program (WCRP), how this will be implemented in the next decade to serve sustainable goals of UN Decade of Ocean Sciences, and the present and future role of the core projects, particularly CLIVAR.

The Town Hall will provide a platform to discuss future science directions, implementation needs, and scientific and logistic coordination to meet urgent climate research goals.

Introductory presentations by the CLIVAR Science Steering Group and by the WCRP leadership (Prof. Detlef Stammer) will be followed by a Q&A and discussion with the audience.
