Deep Search Project Meeting
Deep Search Project Meeting
Session ID#: 91855
Session Description:
This will be an open meeting of the Deep Search (Deep-Sea Exploration to Advance Research on Coral/Canyon/Cold-seep Habitats) project, funded by BOEM, USGS, and NOAA OER. This large, interdisciplinary project if focused on exploration of the deep-sea habitats offshore of the Southeast US between Georgia and Virginia. The ultimate goal of the project is to develop a robust predictive capacity for potentially sensitive deep-sea habitats as BOEM and the Department of the Interior consider offshore energy leasing in the region. We will present an overview of the project, updates on recent findings from the project (with more to follow during the conference), and plans for the future.
