TH25A:
All Hands on Deck: Results of the 2018 National Ocean Exploration Forum

Session ID#: 91889

Session Description:
To fully explore and understand the ocean, we can no longer rely solely on a handful of large, expensive research vessels and a small, elite cohort of explorers. We truly need All Hands on Deck to do it.

On November 8-9, 2018, more than 300 people gathered for the 2018 National Ocean Exploration Forum: All Hands on Deck at the MIT Media Lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with the goal of bringing together leaders and changemakers in ocean exploration, entertainment, recreation, and art to imagine creative new ways to enable an open, inclusive global community of ocean explorers. Panel discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops focused on the forum’s themes of Play, Imagine, Immerse, Create, Explore, and Connect, inviting participants to consider different approaches to engage people and build a better understanding of, and appreciation for, the ocean.

Please join us for an evening discussion about the results of the 2018 Forum, as well as ongoing projects that inspire passion, projects, peers, and play in broadening engagement and participation for ocean exploration.
