Teaching and Learning During the Climate Crisis - Promoting Positive Thinking and Meaningful Action

Session ID#: 92205

Session Description:
A continuation to the workshop offered at the 2019 ASLO Aquatic Sciences Meeting in Puerto Rico, this workshop will bring together educators, researchers, and students to participate in a discussion on the challenges of working and teaching while living under the every-day threat of climate change. We will share ideas and approaches for thriving during this crisis and how to transform our anxiety, apathy, fear, and stress into a state of positivity. Based on discussions generated during the previous workshop, we will focus on resiliency and optimism for the future while moving beyond teaching climate awareness to teaching climate action. We would like to ask participants to come prepared to share relevant professional and personal experiences and techniques that will enhance the discussion.
