Abstract:
The retrieval algorithm for sea ice variable have been developed theoretically using a combined Fresnel equation which can be powerful tools to retrieve surface variables over the smooth surface. In this research, we retrieve the polarized emissivities, physical temperature, and refractive index of polar sea ice from AMSR-E window channel polarized brightness temperature measurements. The obtained physical parameters such as polarized emissivity and refractive index, which are not easily available from satellite measurements, can be obtained from the developed algorithm and results show that these values are consistent with theoretical values. We expect potential application of these data for studying climate and atmospheric profile retrieval.
