Abstract:
The occurrence of irregularities in the equatorial ionosphere has undergone a significant transformation as solar activity has increased from minimum values in 2008 to moderate levels in 2011/12. We will present climatologies of ionospheric irregularities as a function of season and solar activity using in-situ density and ion drift measurements from the Communications and Navigation Outage Forecasting System (C/NOFS) and discuss possible drivers.
