Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to investigate the surface water and the groundwater data of the site in the river stage tomography, in order to depict the large-scale heterogeneous distribution of the hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer. In this research, flood events have been used as the source of stimulation and the source of the corresponding changes between the river infiltration and the groundwater level data in the river stage tomography to depict the large-scale heterogeneous distribution of the hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer. In previous researches, the feasibility of the river stage tomography had been confirmed in synthetic aquifer tests but it has never been used in-situ data, to investigate the effects of this method. For that reason, in this project, a site has been installed for monitoring the water level fluctuation of the groundwater, according to the fluctuation of the water level of the Hsin Hu Wei Stream in Yunlin County. Additionally, the cross-correlation method has been used, so that it can identify the correlation between the surface water and the groundwater. The results indicate that the river stage tomography can effectively inverse the basin-scale heterogeneous distribution of the hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer. Furthermore, the results of this research can be used for studying the groundwater of a basin and developing strategies for water resources management.
