Trends in geoscience funding and governance.

Abstract:

This talk will explore several science-meets-policy issues in geoscience including trends in funding, the idea of ‘usable science’ and new methods for the public to be involved in science. How has public and private funding levels of geosciences changed over time, does this mirror science broadly? How is the user of scientific information thought of when developing funding programs? Can the role of the ‘citizen scientist’ be more than just data collection? Work on these questions by researchers at the Consortium for Science, Policy and Outcomes will be presented.
