Abstract:
I will describe some experiences and lessons learned from the astronomical Virtual Observatory framework, from its conception to its wrap-up, and the emerging discipline of Astroinformatics. I will also address some methodological challenges in data-intensive computational science, that are common to most disciplines, where shared efforts and exchanges may be beneficial. We are effectively building a new scientific methodology for the computationally enabled, data-intensive science in the 21st century.
