H31I:
Uranium Mobility in the Environment I Posters

Session ID#: 7618

Session Description:
New and better knowledge of the physical, geochemical, and biological factors controlling uranium mobility is vital at many sites to protect human health and the environment.  Improving predictions of plume behavior is central to this effort. This session will highlight research that helps to advance basic and applied science required to sustain development of improved predictive models. Topics to be considered include:

 * What are the principle pools of uranium in contaminated or mined subsurface sites?

* What are the rates of uranium release from these pools?

* What are the processes controlling uranium release?

* When must rate-limited mass-transfer be considered, and how is this best accomplished?

* What types of data are required to support hydrogeologic and biogeochemical models?

* What remediation techniques are effective?

We encourage submissions that discuss multidisciplinary efforts to address conceptual, analytical, and numerical capabilities as well as to develop biogeochemical process models.
