A33J:
Intraseasonal to Decadal Climate Variability, Prediction, and Predictability Associated with Land-Atmosphere Interactions III Posters

Session ID#: 8298

Session Description:
Climate variability and change can have significant effects on decadal and shorter time scales.  Although land has been recognized to play a key role in comprehensive, reliable global and regional predictions, the effect of land-climate interactions and associated mechanisms in intraseasonal to decadal climate variability, anomalies, and trends have not yet fully understood.  This session focuses on the effect of the meteorological, hydrological, biophysical, ecosystem processes, land cover and land use change, and turbulence processes that underlie the connections between climate and soil moisture, soil temperature, surface emitted aerosols, ecosystem, snow, and frozen soil on the intraseasonal-to-decadal variability, prediction and predictability of meteorological and climate processes, such as monsoons, droughts, and flooding. The session encourages studies that investigate land-climate interactions from various perspectives using observational, diagnostic or modeling approaches, including the physical mechanisms involved.  Results from large scale data analyses and model intercomparison studies are welcome.
