A51N:
Toward Understanding the Three-Dimensional Distribution of Gases, Aerosols, and Clouds via Synergistic Use of Models and Satellite, Aircraft, and Ground-Based Observations I Posters
Session ID#: 8504
Session Description:
An increasing number of dataset collections that probe the vertical distribution of clouds, aerosols, and gases are becoming available using sensors on satellites, aircraft, and the ground. Understanding the colocation of gases, aerosols and clouds in the vertical dimension provides insights into the processes that determine their climate effects, such as aerosol formation, aerosol-radiation and aerosol-cloud interactions.
This session invites presentations that use either space-based remote sensors, ground-based datasets, and/or flight campaigns, in combination with regional and global models, to understand the 3-dimensional structure of gas, aerosol, and/or cloud distributions. Studies on clouds and aerosols can involve cloud and aerosol microphysical processes, or those determining the 3-dimensional distribution of aerosols and/or gases, including sources, transport and removal.
