A51L:
Precipitation, Weather, and Climate: Atmospheric Rivers and Aerosol-Cloud Interaction Studies II Posters

Session ID#: 8857

Session Description:
Water availability and drought in semi-arid regions such as the southwestern US are issues of growing concern. With global environmental changes presenting more imminent threats, it is important to understand how climate, weather and cloud systems and their interactions with topography and aerosols affect precipitation in these regions. In many of these areas, atmospheric rivers influence local water vapor transport, precipitation, water supply and flooding. Local and long-range transported aerosols may further modulate precipitation and enhance floods and droughts. These topics have been the focus of field experiments, diagnostic studies, and climate change research. Abstracts are encouraged on facets of research and applications of these topics, including results from field experiments, analysis using satellite and in-situ data, model experimentation and theory. In particular, submissions are encouraged that report results from the CALWATER 2015 field campaign over California and the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
