ED51D:
Integration of Art into Earth Science Education Posters

Session ID#: 8963

Session Description:
The STEAM strategy (adding Art to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is increasingly being leveraged to broaden participation in the sciences, often through funding from federal agencies such as the National Science Foundation.  Earth science, which is frequently rich in visual spatial data, has the potential to fully realize this approach.  This session will feature Earth science-related STEAM education initiatives across both formal and informal learning environments, and explore the impacts on program participants. We encourage contributions from projects large and small that can help advance the conversation about this emerging strategy.  What is the value of a STEAM approach to Earth science?   How can such an approach be authentic to both science and art? What are documented outcomes?
