Remote Sensing of CO2 and CH4 from Space: Exploiting New Measurements I Posters

Session Description:
This session explores the impact of remote sensing observations of atmospheric carbon dioxide, methane, and related geophysical quantities on the understanding of processes driving variability in emissions and uptake at local, regional, and global scales.   With the availability of a host of existing (e.g., SCIAMACHY, GOSAT, TES, AIRS, IASI), recently-launched (OCO-2, SMAP) and upcoming (OCO-3, TROPOMI) space-based sensors, together with an expanding range of in-situ observational efforts, we are entering an age of great opportunity for fundamental breakthroughs. However, many scientific, technical, and computational challenges remain if we are to fully exploit these measurements. We call for submissions outlining innovative measurement approaches, advances in retrieval algorithms, and data analysis / modeling tools that target these new and existing observations.  Studies that present strategies for robust uncertainty quantification and studies that integrate across multiple data streams and examine how one can leverage their complementary strengths are especially encouraged.
