Abstract:
Particle precipitation directly affects ionization, conductivities, and current closure in the ionosphere. Using the OpenGGCM-CTIM model, the effects of precipitation to the ionosphere is discussed with respect to how the resulting changes in conductivities and current closure affect the configuration and dynamics of the magnetosphere. Multiple simulations were run with particle precipitation varied by several orders of magnitude greater and lower. Input data was identical for the different simulation.
