Abstract:
Quasi-periodical disturbances of the natural geomagnetic field in the frequency range 5-20 Hz in the F-layer of the Earth’s ionosphere are analyzed and compared with the magnetic fluctuations in the magnetosphere and on the ground surface. Morphological properties of these signals and their dependences on space weather conditions and thunderstorm activity are studied in order to discriminate possible physical mechanisms including local amplification of IAR upper harmonics and penetration of Schumann signals to the F-layer altitudes. The results are compared with the CHAMP observations in the same frequency range.
