Session Description:
Control and monitoring of fracture systems is a challenging engineering problem in energy resource production which impacts both the efficient development of the energy resource and the effects of such development on the surrounding geosystem. Through the use of electrically enhanced contrast agents such as fluids, proppants, or tracers, there has been a renewed interest in the application of electrical and electromagnetic methods to minimize well-known ambiguities associated with traditional microseismic monitoring of hydrofracture operations. In this session we invite contributions describing advances in electrical and electromagnetic field data acquisition, analysis, numerical modeling, inversion and assimilation related to fracture characterization in natural and engineered systems.
