Session Description:
Over the past year, our community has begun a conversation about the prevalence of sexual harassment, and we have witnessed multiple institutional and individual responses to often widely-publicized incidences. However, harassment is only one barrier to the full inclusion in the Geosciences, and there are many ways in which we can take a proactive approach and work to make our departments and institutions more welcoming and inclusive for all, and especially for people of color, women, LGBTQ individuals, people with disabilities, and those at the intersection of all of these identities. This session explores some of those barriers to inclusion, including harassment, microaggressions, and structural barriers, and presents successful policies and intervention techniques to make our field more inclusive for all.
