Tools and Methods for Data Driven Education in the Water Sciences II

Session Description:
Incorporating real data into a lesson plan or activity can create a more profound learning experience for students to better understand a scientific concept or event. With this pedagogical approach, students can learn how places they are familiar with can be observed and analyzed digitally, the challenges of conducting research such as data scarcity, and how to properly reuse data through the understanding of metadata. Recent community investments have resulted in the development of tools and services for data reuse that have lowered the barriers to making this approach possible for hydrology and related sciences. In this session, presentations which describe place-based, data-driven learning exercises will be solicited to highlight learning outcomes enabled by the use of data, tools, and other resources available to educators in the university community.
