Session Description:
Tropospheric chemistry in the polar regions affects the Earth through processes ranging from boundary layer interactions to intercontinental transport, and over temporal scales from seconds to years. The emission, transport and deposition of both natural and anthropogenic gases and aerosols has consequences for biological systems, human health, and global climate. Both stark differences and surprising similarities occur in the in the atmospheric and chemical processes in the cold regions surrounding the two poles. This session invites submissions related to all aspects of polar tropospheric chemistry, including observational, modeling, and laboratory studies of all phases, as well as to climatic, ecological and societal impacts of these processes.
