Advances in Tools, Methods, and Climate Modeling to Enhance Water-Energy System Engineering Design and Operation III Posters

Session Description:
The variabilities of hydrometerological and climate conditions, and the increases of population growth are challenging the fundamental engineering design and operation for Water-Energy (W-E) systems. The W-E system includes reservoirs, hydropower facilities, pumping system, municipal water delivery system, irrigation system, water diversion projects, wastewater treatment plants, and thermal plants. Advanced modeling approaches, optimization algorithms, and weather-scale forecasts and climate projections are needed to achieve high sustainability of water and energy supply within various W-E system. Session will seek studies on developing advanced W-E system management tools, new optimization tools, economic and risk analysis, and hydrological and climate forecasts in support of W-E system decision-making. Papers that focus on evaluating the influences of human’s impacts on water cycle and ecosystem, and environments are also encouraged. The overarching goals of this session is to enhance the overall capacities in understanding the interactions between human and nature under uncertain future scenarios.
