S33A:
Dynamic Earth High-Resolution Imaging and Temporal Changes Monitoring at a Variety of Scales III Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 25784

Session Description:
The Earth’s structure evolves at a variety of spatiotemporal scales, which hold the key to improve our understanding of dynamic Earth processes and to mitigate the effects of natural hazards. Acquiring high-resolution subsurface images and structural variations requires dense spatiotemporal sampling and advanced data analysis techniques. With the emerging dense seismic array development (e.g. “large N” arrays), we can record a well-sampled wavefield and derive subsurface structure and temporal changes with unprecedented resolution. In addition, a variety of passive- and active-source methods are being developed to investigate structural variations at a wide range of scales. Here we invite presentations related to recent advances in investigations of dynamic Earth processes using dense arrays, including both passive- and active-source seismic strategies. Example topics include, but are not limited to, evolution of fault zones and volcanic regions, fluid migration, the critical zone, high-resolution structure, full wavefield characterization, and development of active sources.
