A22D:
Mineral Dust Aerosols: From Small-Scale Insights to Large-Scale Understanding II
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session ID#: 30829
Session Description:
Interactions of the dust cycle with other components of the Earth system produce a wide range of complex effects on, for instance, atmospheric composition, human health, the hydrological cycle, climate, and ecosystems. To better understand and assess these effects substantial advances are needed, including field and laboratory measurements, remote sensing techniques and models of the physical and chemical properties of dust. This session invites contributions reporting any such advances as well as studies addressing any aspect of the dust cycle and its impact on the Earth system. This includes the identification of dust source regions and variability within them, modeling of the dust cycle and its interactions with other Earth system cycles, investigations of dust interactions with clouds, radiation, precipitation and the biosphere, quantification of effects of land use and climate changes on dust emissions and understanding dust impacts on air quality and human health.
