The 2017 Total Solar Eclipse: Science, Reach, and Impact II

Session Description:
The August 21st Total Solar Eclipse across America will have been, by all accounts, the most anticipated, leveraged, and viewed eclipse in history. This is driven by its accessibility to western audiences, massive media outreach, social media, recent emphasis on citizen science, technical sophistication in the amateur astronomy community, and the large suite of space based assets viewing the eclipse. Numerous individual, organization, and government agency programs have been developed to bring the eclipse to an audience of over 500 million in North America alone. This session is designed to provide statistics, research findings, experiences, and lessons learned from eclipse programming and to look ahead to the next eclipse across America in 2024.
