Climate Literacy: Supporting Communities Addressing Climate Change Through Climate Literacy Cross-Sector Collaboration and Communication Strategies I Posters

Session Description:
With communities confronting the costly impacts of climate change, education and youth engagement programs are working to ensure that communities develop smart strategies and partnerships for building social capacity about climate change necessary for climate literacy and workforce development. Given the current political climate and the manufactured debate about the science of climate change, communication becomes even more important. Cultivating climate literacy supports informed decision-making by individuals, communities, and societies and requires strong communication skills to frame the issues and impacts and to empower collective action towards solutions. This session focuses on effective strategies including programs, media, and messaging that demonstrate engaging diverse audiences in climate literacy efforts. Additionally, it explore new approaches and effective formal and non-formal education practices in education, policy, and social action which have the potential to equip and transform a generation and the way we think and live together in a changing climate.
