Analysis Tools for Large Data Sets and Their Application in Hydrology Posters

Session Description:
Increasingly, an integrative approach combining field and remote sensing data with modeling is needed to address the challenges facing the hydrological community. This approach often requires large diverse datasets that represent a span of spatial and temporal scales. Due to their complexity, it can be difficult to apply traditional computational and analysis techniques to these datasets. Novel approaches are needed to visualize, explore, and analyze these massive datasets. This session focuses on both the development and application of analysis tools to large multi-faceted datasets in the hydrological and related sciences. Examples of these tools include data sampling and statistical methods, data fusion and integration techniques, data mining approaches, and visualization schemes for large datasets. Potential applications of these tools include, but are not limited to, modeling evapotranspiration and other earth system processes, assessing flood and drought risk, characterizing the spatial variability of precipitation, and water resources
