Coastal Altimetry: Retrieval, Applications, and Assimilation in Models Posters

Session Description:
Altimetry is a major component of the coastal observing system to assess the impacts of climate change, quantify the variability in currents and sea state and help improve forecasting skill of numerical models, all contributing to the WCRP Grand Challenge on Regional Sea-Level Change and Coastal Impacts.
Recent technological advances in Radar Altimetry (SAR, SARin, Ka-band) and novel retrieval processing promise more and better data closer to the coast, filling an important gap. We invite contributions highlighting how satellite altimetry data are processed in the coastal zone (new technologies, novel algorithms, et cetera) and used (also in combination/synergy with in situ and/or modelling tools) to contribute to the research and monitoring of coastal ocean and enclosed seas. Dynamics in estuaries, river plumes, permafrost-affected coastal plains, and studies highlighting the integration of in situ/altimetry/modelling in the coastal zone using processing platforms providing access to data, tools and processors are also welcome.
