Modeling the Why, Where, and When of Regional Forest Decline Posters

Session Description:
Climate data indicate that warm areas of land are increasing and the warmed areas are also drying (Yi et al., 2014). The warmer-drought climate poses a significant global concern for the future of forests. Here, we invite contributions to tackle drought-induced forest mortality issues: why, where and when regional forest decline is occurring, and how we can identify a threshold level (tipping point) of forest growth decline. All aspects of climate-induced tree mortality from drought stress, insect attach, forest fire, and other climate change related by using various approaches, including theoretical modeling, ecohydrological modeling, remote sensing/mapping, dendrochronological analysis, identification of early warning signals linked to climate trends, and research results of modeling xylem hydraulics based on observations (e.g. sap-flow measurements, chamber measurements, isotope etc.) also are welcome.
