Full-Waveform Inversion, Modeling, and Imaging in Seismology and Near-Surface Geophysics Posters

Session Description:
Full-waveform inversion (FWI) is broadly studied in seismology, oil/gas reservoir characterization, hydrogeology and civil engineering to produce high-resolution elastic and electromagnetic subsurface properties, which has led to a great progress in Earth structure-imaging at different scales. This co-organized session brings together the researches in seismology and near surface geophysics on these popular topics. We invite investigations on theoretical FWI developments, including applications to synthetic models, data and case studies. Wide range of waveform inversion, modeling and imaging-related topics are invited, including but not limited to: Theoretical forward-modeling and FWI algorithm developments; Time-lapse (4D) FWI; Automatic and adaptive FWI; Deconvolution-based image enhancement; Wave-equation-based imaging and migration velocity analysis; Open source code developments; Model assessment, Regularization and uncertainty analysis; Constraints; Dedicated processing for FWI; Feasibility studies of Viscoelastic and anisotropic inversions; FWI enhancements by machine learning for optimizing misfit functions and gradient search. Case studies and innovative ideas are especially encouraged.
