H33T:
Recent Advances in Pore-Scale Modeling and Experiments for Flow in Porous Media IV Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 45464

Session Description:
Fluid flow and transport in porous media play a fundamental role in a broad range of applications, e.g., unconventional oil/gas recovery, geological CO2 sequestration, and contaminant transport in groundwater and unsaturated zones. The macroscopic behaviors of fluid movement in porous media are largely controlled by flow physics and reactive transport at the pore-scale. Thus, understanding pore-scale physical and chemical processes is critical to improve our capability in controlling and predicting fluid flow and transport in the subsurface. Thanks to the recent advances in experimental (e.g., microfluidics) and computational techniques, much progress has been made towards better elucidating the pore-scale processes and developing more consistent macroscopic descriptions. In this session, we broadly invite contributions on novel experimental, theoretical, and modeling techniques for measuring, visualizing, quantifying, and benchmarking pore-scale processes. Topics include, but not limited to, single/multiphase flow, reactive transport, flow in nanoscale media, interfacial and wettability dynamics, coupling between different processes.
