Recent Advances in Fire Modeling Posters

Session Description:
Wildfires are an important part of the ecosystem and interact with their environment on a range of spatial and temporal scales. Consequently, a range of models exist, aimed at understanding different aspects of fire, from empirical models of 1D-2D fire spread to computationally expensive, physics-based research models of 3D fire-atmosphere interactions. Each of these models fills a niche, addressing fire on space and time scales from local/instantaneous to global/century. Likewise, applications span the range from operational support on a wildfire to wildfire modules within Earth System Models.

We aim to bring together fire modelers from a variety of backgrounds to exchange knowledge and ideas, and share recent model developments and results of fire modeling studies across all spatial and temporal scales. We encourage abstracts on modeling innovations from empirical to CFD models that aim to enhance our understanding of fire behavior now (fire-ecosystem-topography interactions) and in the future (fire-climate interactions).
